save the date

Im deutschsprachigen WIKIPEDIA wird man erstaunlicherweise bislang nicht fündig, im englischsprachigen heißt es (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Save_the_date):

"A save the date notice is an item stating the date of a wedding or other formal event. It typically states the date when a couple plans to marry, so that recipients will know to keep that date free. Save the dates usually take the form of a card, but can also be a refrigerator magnet or similar item. They are generally sent out at least six to twelve months before the wedding date, and are usually followed by a formal wedding invitation. While save the date started as a wedding-related custom, it is now used by individuals, businesses, and organizations to announce the date of any formal event, ranging from wedding anniversaries to grand opening ceremonies for office buildings."

Dieser Brauch scheint aktuell auf einem ähnlichen Siegeszug zu sein wie Halloween, das Netz ist bereits voll mit Fundstellen zu "save the date" Postkarten.

Es erstaunt (mich persönlich zumindest) ein wenig, dass mittlerweile jedwede Terminankündigung auch in rein deutschsprachigen Publikationen zu einem "save the date" mutiert.

Nun ja, Dank WIKIPEDIA wissen wir nun zumindest was gemeint ist und sind erwartungsfroh ob der Einladung zu einem großartigen Fest, die da folgen mag.
